Instructional Excellence

Instructional Excellence (I.E.) hours can be earned by any individual employed as a certified teacher through engagement in activities that support students' academic and emotional success in the categories of MTSS and Professional Learning.

I.E. proposed plans are due by September 30. Revised plans are due by the last day of the first semester. First semester I.E. must be completed and recorded by the last day in the first semester. Second semester I.E. must be submitted to the payroll department one week prior to the last student day. Compensation is in the form of an hourly wage with payments in January and June. Any I.E. hours not included by the deadline will not be paid until the following semester. No payment will be made for IE hours (specific to PD IE hours) until DGH has been completed and paid out. Questions regarding I.E. can be directed to the building principal.

• May: Second semester hours and logs are due to the payroll department one week prior to last student day.
• June: Second semester hours will be paid in June.

Compensation is in the form of an hourly wage with payments in January and June. Building budgets will be figured per student using September student enrollment numbers.

At least 80% of the building total of I.E. funds should come from activities that support students through improvement in academics, behavior and extension. A teacher does not have to participate in both categories to earn I.E. funds at the discretion of the building principal.

Academics and Behavior (Approved activities not limited to the below examples.)*
Individual or small group tutoring (before or after school)
Team collaboration and planning outside of school hours
Intervention-based clubs (reading, math)
Home visits
Binder/locker organization sessions after school
*Activities must be face to face or live via a virtual platform.

Extension (Approved activities not limited to the below examples.)*
Club sponsorship of Student-Centered Clubs: Book Clubs, STEM Clubs, Hobby Clubs
Family/Student Outreach: Title 1 Reading Nights, Family Literacy Nights, Transition Fair, A Sporting Chance, Judging Student Contests
*Activities must be face to face or live via a virtual platform.

A maximum of 20% of the building total of I.E. funds may come from activities that support students through teachers’ commitment to continual growth in areas of need and/or interest. A teacher does not have to participate in both categories to earn I.E. funds at the discretion of the building principal. Learning requested from PDC funds cannot also be included in I.E. funding. DGH must be completed and paid out prior to being paid for IE professional learning hours.

PDC meetings
Virtual/Physical Conferences and/or Workshops outside of school hours
CPI training
Book Study Discussions and Leading (reading time does not count)

• Work towards advanced degrees
• Participation in district-wide PD days (contracted time)
• Student trips/ chaperone
• Meet the Teacher/ Orientation/ PT Conferences
• Movie Nights, Dances, Carnivals
• Building Social Committees/Events
