The school year is well underway and we hope it’s been a great start for you and your student(s). One of the tasks we have as a school district is getting important information to you in a timely fashion. We believe it’s helpful to you and to the school if you have information about daily attendance, school cancellations, important reminders and emergencies as soon as possible.
One of the tools we use to do that is a notification system called School Messenger. This system allows us to get that information to you quickly with an automated voice call, email and text message. The voice message and email will be sent to the primary contact information we have on record for your student. If you do not wish to receive the automated district phone or email messages please contact us at the district office right away.
If you would like to receive this information via text message there are a couple of simple steps you can take to do that:
Step 1 Log in to the district’s Parent Portal for Students Records
Step 2 Click on "Family Data", then click the Edit button. Scroll down to the section below the gray bar with the title "Family Data".
Step 3 Add the phone number that you would like to receive the text to in the Primary Parent Home Telephone #2 field.
Step 4 Scroll back to the top of the page and click the button to "Submit Changes for School to Update Their Records"
The phone number entered in the Primary Parent Cell Phone field is the number the voice call will route to. If you have any trouble with these steps or questions just contact Jolene @ 742-2860 or Cindy @ 742-2584 at the district office and they will be happy to help you.
Once you’ve entered your number for text messaging you should receive a text “Opt In” message within 24 hours. Simply follow the instructions in the text message to opt in and authorize the system to send you text alerts from Willard Schools.
Some parents may have already received this “Opt In” message in the past and didn’t know what it was. If that’s the case simply text the message Y to 68453 and you’ll receive a confirmation text back indicating that you are all set up.
There is no charge from the district or School Messenger for this service. However, your phone service provider’s standard text message rates or package will apply. We’ll do a test of this system next Tuesday afternoon, Sept 8.
Once again if you have any questions please feel free to call us at the district office at 742.2584 and we’ll be happy to help.
