Willard Becomes an Autism Friendly Community

Following an afternoon of training, on Monday, December 10th the City of Willard was proclaimed an Autism Friendly Community by Mayor Hendrickson. School, City, Police, and Fire officials all attended a training session with the leaders of Stars4Autism, a local autism awareness organization, to better be able to identify and support individuals with autism in different scenarios. The proclamation was read by Mayor Hendrickson at a Board of Alderman Meeting with more than 50 business leaders and community members looking on. After the reading of the proclamation, attendees celebrated with cake and lemonade at the Willard Community Center. Ongoing training is planned for community members and businesses to further the inclusivity of our community.

Willard Schools is proud to be part of this incredible effort!
