After a successful fundraiser last Spring, Willard High School Student Government Association wanted to make a difference locally for other Willard Tigers. "When we were looking at charities to donate the proceeds to, we thought, we really want to be able to see this money in action for Willard kids," explained a group of SGA students. The idea of a "Paw Pack", a backpack full of school supplies and hygiene items, stemed from a student's own experience of having to buy those items herself during back to school time.
"They recognized what an expense back to school time can be and thought this was a great opportunity to help other kids in our District," says Matt Brunner, SGA sponsor and history teacher.
Now 26 back packs are full of supplies and hygiene items and will be distributed through our District social workers. "We hope to do this again next year and be able to supply more back packs for more Willard kids."
At the Willard R-II School District, student safety is paramount. Reports of bullying are, and have always been, taken seriously and investigated. If you have knowledge of a bullying situation you are encouraged to promptly report such incident to a school employee, including specifically the Assistant Superintendent or Building Principal.
