Willard Schools Learning Update
Who else is ready for Spring? We are! As you know, it’s been nearly a week since our students have been learning with us and we miss them already! We hope to be back together soon, but the weather forecast doesn’t look very promising. This school year we’ve experienced 5 “snow days” (ice days!) thus far, January 27, February 9, 10, 11, & 12. In our 2020-2021 school calendar we have 5 built-in snow days, so all signified days off (spring break, Good Friday, etc.) will continue to be guaranteed days off. Our last day of school is scheduled to be Friday, May 28th.
With that being said, we want to share some important information about AMI, alternative methods of instruction. On snow day #6 (potentially Tuesday), we will have used all of our built-in days and will begin utilizing Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) learning days so these days do not have to be made up another way, starting at snow day #6. AMI will look different throughout grade levels as there is no “one size fits all” version of at-home learning.
How it will work:
- You’ll receive notification from the District (as usual) that there is no school due to weather conditions, and it will be signified as AMI Day #1, and so on.
- Students will receive individualized communication from their building or teacher as to their responsibilities for “AMI Day #1”, utilizing their District device.
- Remember - we’re here to support you! Teachers will be available to help navigate learning, just as they always do.
Our goal is not to overwhelm students and families with mountains of at-home work on your snow day, but encourage students to engage in learning wherever they are - whether that be at home or in the classroom!
