Upon Dr. Derrick Hutsell’s retirement this summer, we’re excited to welcome Dr. Eric Wilken to the Willard Family as our Assistant Superintendent of Operations beginning July 1, 2021!
Learn a little more about Dr. Wilken below:
I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve the Willard School District and community. I am excited to work alongside this amazing team to help grow student leaders and life-ready graduates. I grew up in Aurora and moved to Skyline my senior year where I graduated. My wife Julie and I have three children; Cooper is a sophomore, Callie in 5th grade, and Camden, a 2nd grader. Julie is a RN and teaches in the nursing program at Southwest Baptist University on the Bolivar campus.
Prior to coming to Willard, I spent 5 years teaching middle school math at School of the Osage, 4 years as Elementary Principal/Athletic Director at Weaubleau, and the last 11 years as Superintendent of the Weaubleau School District. I hold a Doctorate degree from Lindenwood University, a Masters from William Woods University, and a Specialist degree from Missouri State University. In my free time, I enjoy attending church, watching my kids participate in athletics, deer hunting, fishing, cruising the lake, attending sporting events, and spending time with my family.
At the Willard R-II School District, student safety is paramount. Reports of bullying are, and have always been, taken seriously and investigated. If you have knowledge of a bullying situation you are encouraged to promptly report such incident to a school employee, including specifically the Assistant Superintendent or Building Principal.
