Willard Intermediate School-South Receives Playground Grant
In August of 2019 Willard Schools was proud to open our second intermediate school building, Willard Intermediate School - South! This building houses nearly 400 5th and 6th grade Tigers that live in the Southern portion of our District. Over the summer our Principal Stacey Pippin applied for a grant from Missouri Department of Natural Resources that would provide the playground scrap tire surface material that would go underneath future play equipment to enhance the existing options (basketball courts, gaga ball, painted games).
We’re excited to share that Willard Intermediate School - South has been awarded the full grant amount of $30,000 to help this project come to life! The vision for the playground was built by our own WISS Playground Crew Leadership Team comprised of 22 volunteer students. Their mission was to provide a fun, safe, organized and engaging playground for all students.
The recycled, safe, level surface will be located underneath the swingset and climbing equipment. Take a look at the photo below for the new playground plans! Stay tuned for updates on this project in the coming months!
At the Willard R-II School District, student safety is paramount. Reports of bullying are, and have always been, taken seriously and investigated. If you have knowledge of a bullying situation you are encouraged to promptly report such incident to a school employee, including specifically the Assistant Superintendent or Building Principal.
