Willard High School

Hello, Willard High School families!
WHS Signees
This is such a great time to be a Willard Tiger! During the month of November, there have been a number of opportunities for students and the community to get involved and see the many talents of our students! Just a few of those events include:

Our Tiger soccer team had a great season and won the district championship! They worked extremely hard and were able to bring home the district title! Congratulations and great job!

Our NJROTC program has been very involved in the Veteran’s Day Assemblies across the District and competitions. They were front and center as we celebrated our veterans during our Veteran’s Day Assembly as they stood at attention throughout the gym while veterans entered. Our students make us proud as they show pride and reverence for those who have served our country! Additionally, our NJROTC took 2nd place in the Navy Area Nine Regional Qualifier, 2nd at the Shawnee Mission North Athletic Challenge, and will participate in the Navy Area Nine Championship in January. Great job!
Our Chamber Choir recently performed the National Anthem to open the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City at the Sprint Center. They did a fantastic job and represented Willard well!

Twelve of our WHS students committed to continue their education and participate in college athletics! This was a large signing class and the afternoon was a tremendous time to share with family and friends! Congratulations!

Our Willard High School theater program presented Disney’s Tarzan! Our community enjoyed multiple performances and students from our elementary schools were able to attend a matinee. Wonderful job!

Our first ever Explore Your Future day was a huge success! There were 89 speakers and every student had the opportunity to participate. The afternoon consisted of a college and career day, as well! It was such a great event for our students as they prepare to be life-ready. Thanks to everyone for making this a great success!

As we look forward to the end of the semester, please remember that semester final exams are on Dec. 18th – 20th and a schedule was emailed out to our high school families. Criteria is provided on our website regarding final exam procedures and exemptions. We also will have Christmas Break from Dec. 23rd – Jan. 3rd with school resuming on Jan. 6th.

Please talk with your child about these many opportunities and be sure to view future events by visiting and you can follow me @DrKevinMorrison on Twitter and look for #WeAreWillard and #1Tiger.

Thank you and as always, it’s good to be a TIGER!

WMS Food Drive Action TeamWe are so proud of our ACTION class “Impact Boys” for their efforts in organizing a wonderful food drive. They collaborated with a group of students that develop opportunities for teams to earn points. These gentlemen were able to collect 900+ food items and had the opportunity to deliver them to the Willard Food Bank. While they were there, they learned about an additional need and plan on organizing a personal care item drive in the future. Great work!
Willard Intermediate School- North

-Our first student led Veterans Day celebration was a huge success as we were able to honor over 50 veterans and their families. It was a privilege to have Sgt Bill Thompson share his experiences from WW2 and love of our country with us.

Willard Intermediate School- South

Winter ConcertWIS-South has many reasons to be thankful this time of year. The list may be endless, but we've narrowed it down to three exciting reasons we are grateful:

-Willard Intermediate School-South building team including Paragon Architecture, JE Dunn and our Willard Team were recognized as Springfield Business Journal's "Design Team of the Year" at the 35th Annual Salute to Design & Construction Banquet in November.
-Our music teacher, Rachael Hudson, won a $500 Classroom Grant from Willard Children's Charitable Foundation. This grant will fund a drum making unit for our 6th graders!
-Our first ever Winter Concert & Holiday Fun Night is Thursday night, Dec. 5 from 5:30-8:00 pm. Students have been working hard to prepare and it's sure to be a special evening. We invite you to come early to shop at the book fair, get your family picture taken at the photo booth and grab some cookies & cocoa before the concert begins at 7:00 pm.

WN Veterans Day AssemblyHappy Holidays from Willard North! We had so much to be thankful for this last month here at Willard North! We are looking forward to spending time with our families over the upcoming holiday break.

On Friday, November 8th we held our Veterans Day Assembly. We provided breakfast for our Veterans and their families. Students led a Veterans Day Assembly for the Veterans and the entire school. It is one of our favorite assemblies and the students love honoring our Veterans.

We ended the month with Thanksgiving and our Willard North Team participated in the Willard’s Care To Learn Turkey Trot. Thank you to all the teachers, students, and families that came out to support such a great cause!

Willard Central
Sensory WalkWillard Central students enjoyed a great November and the chance to honor our Veterans. Our 3rd grade leaders were able to shine at their Fine Arts Night showing off their artwork and sharing their music concert. As our leaders left for the Thanksgiving break, we also kicked off our 14th annual All-School Family Book Club with this year's book, A Boy Called Bat. Whether it is fireside, in the car or in tree stand, enjoy reading this story with your family!
Dr. Medlin Reading

Students and staff were also excited to see a new sensory path installed in the Kindergarten hallway. Sensory paths allow students opportunities to get needed sensory input as they transition between lessons and activities. This path was secured through a grant from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks thanks to the efforts of our occupational therapist, Casey Sumner and parent extraordinaire, Erin Parrish. Thanks to Ms. Linda, Mr. Bob and our wonderful custodial staff for helping get this path installed.
