We are excited to celebrate our great educators with other districts in the region throughout the school year. This month, we are spotlighting Mr. Kameron Coates, our Willard High School Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Biology teacher! Mr. Coates was recently selected as the ACS Division of Chemical Education 2023 Midwest Region Award for Excellence in High School Teaching. He goes above and beyond for his students and we are lucky to have him in our district!
This month's #TeacherProud recipient is Matthew Smith, 8th Grade Social StudiesTeacher. Here are a few things his peers have to say about him:
Mr. Smith is a fantastic Social Studies teacher and an even better person. His historical knowledge base is an asset to the Willard Middle School Social Studies Department, and all of the students in those classes. Mr. Smith does not simply teach rote memorization, but instead designs and implements a Social Studies curriculum that requires much analysis, deep thinking, and application for the students.
Join us in celebrating our Teacher Proud Tuesday Recipient, Melinda Jones! Melinda is a 6th-Grade Science Teacher at Willard Intermediate North. See what her peers had to say about her below!
Melinda Jones is a creative, innovative 6th grade science teacher at Willard Intermediate North. She creates engaging activities for her students and is a natural leader among our WISN staff. Mrs. Jones fosters meaningful relationships with her students, who thoroughly enjoy being in her class! We are proud to have Melinda Jones as part of our Intermediate North family!
We are pleased to announce Sixth Grade ELA and Social Studies teacher Leah Vest as our second Teacher Proud Tuesday recipient for December! Below are a few things her peers had to say about her:
Leah is passionate about her content and creating a classroom of students who see themselves as readers and writers. In addition, she works tirelessly to create a culture where all feel they belong and are comfortable finding their own genius. She is always willing to share her expertise and experience with others, too.
Leah goes above and beyond not only to help the success of her students but also to ensure the success of the teachers around her. She is always willing to help in any way and is always a team player. She is always doing what's best for the students, advocating for what they need and what the teachers need to better help their students.
