We are excited to celebrate our great educators with other districts in the region throughout the school year. This month, we are spotlighting Staci Wattie, our Success Department Chair and Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) teacher.
Ms. Wattie's JAG class had a visit from our First Lady, Teresa Parson. First Lady Parson spoke with our high school JAG students. This was in large part due to the exceptional work Ms. Wattie and our JAG students have done. Our JAG program is only in their second year of existence in Willard, and our students have already earned state and national awards.
Ms. Wattie cares deeply for her students and does whatever she can do to help them achieve their goals as they prepare to be life-ready graduates. Thanks, Ms. Wattie!
This month's #TeacherProud recipient is Candis Shaw, Middle School ELA Teacher. Here are a few things her peers have to say about her:
Candis is always a positive person in our building. She creates great relationships with students, makes learning fun, and she is an amazing co-worker. She volunteers to lead teams and helps wherever she is needed. She is an awesome teammate and I enjoy the culture she creates at WMS!
Mrs. Shaw is known in the Willard Middle School building for her fun personality and for her ever present catchphrase of, "I support you." She truly does extend this support to all students and colleagues. She is always one of the first smiling faces that students and staff may see when they walk in the front doors, and she always has a joke of the day ready to share.
As an AI/Focus teacher, Mrs. Shaw is an excellent support for students who may need additional help in ELA, as she makes sure to break down lessons into more manageable sections as well as provides additional resources and structure. A lover of writing, Mrs. Shaw is also sponsoring the Creative Writing Club this year. Our building would not be the same without her.
We are pleased to announce Sixth Grade ELA teacher Mr. Ron Keys as our Teacher Proud Tuesday recipient for the month of November!
Mr. Keys is passionate about empowering students through their reading and writing. Every student who enters his classroom is challenged to be the best version of themselves as a learner and 11/12 year old human.
Mr. Keys serves as our Intermediate North building Lighthouse Coordinator and co-sponsor of Coding Club in addition to the many hours of after-school tutoring he provides. He sets high professional standards for himself and is often sought out as a resource by his colleagues. WIS-North is a better place because of Mr. Keys!
Join us in celebrating our two Teacher Proud Tuesday Recipients, Bonnie Herron and Kennedy Cisneros! Bonnie is a 6th Grade Math and Science Teacher, and Kennedy is a Special Services - Essential Skills Teacher at Intermediate South!
Both teachers were recognized by their peers for their dedication and heart to go above and beyond for all students. One is only a second-year teacher, and the other is completing her 26th year! Check out what their peers had to say when nominating Bonnie and Kennedy:
Bonnie Herron:
Bonnie has dedicated all 26 of her years to helping 6th grade students tackle their adolescent years and learn not only math and science, but a great deal about themselves. A student entering her classroom quickly learns how special they are and is allowed to develop their own unique qualities.
Bonnie was truly meant to be a teacher and has left such an impact on every student fortunate enough to spend a school year with her. This is evident through the many, many students who continue to stay in touch with her and evenings and weekends spent at after-school events around the area to cheer current and former classmates on with their talents.
Bonnie quietly and whole-heartedly dedicates her knowledge, love and positive mindset day in and day out to serve those she comes in contact with at Willard Schools and Intermediate South. To know Bonnie, is to be a lucky one! She is truly a gem.
Kennedy Cisneros:
Every time I see her with her class, you can tell that they feel so loved and safe with her. She has taken on the new role with so much determination, passion, and patience. Her students are absolutely thriving with her and it is amazing to see their growth. I know that she is spending so much extra time carefully and lovingly planning, prepping, and giving her all to these kids that she really deserves to be recognized!
She jumped right in with the essential skills classroom! You would not know that she has not done this for years. She is always smiling and cares for her students' well being every day that she is with them.
Kennedy has gotten our essential skills students more involved throughout the school and the progress of each student is evident to everyone who sees them.
This month's #TeacherProud recipient is Mrs. Bonnie Giesler, North Elementary Third Grade Teacher.
Bonnie is a master teacher and goes above and beyond for her students. She is great at building relationships with her students and families. She has strong instruction and meets students with what they need. She is very respected by her peers and is always willing to help others.
