K-6

Summer Discovery is shaping up to be an exciting opportunity for students in grades K–6 (and ECSE), with a variety of engaging activities planned throughout the program!

Students can look forward to:

• Mini Golf Days at each school location
• Field Day celebrations
• Visits from the local Fire Department
• Marty the Magician’s Wacky Science Show
• Weekly Friday attendance celebrations featuring popcorn, cotton candy, popsicles, and snow cones

To keep the excitement going, students will also have the chance to earn attendance incentives, with prizes such as bikes and scooters awarded on the final day!

In addition, K-6 & ECSE students will participate in memorable field trips, including visits to:

• Dickerson Park Zoo
• The Watershed
• The History Museum on the Square

Summer Discovery offers a fun, engaging environment where students can learn, explore, and make lasting memories.

Middle School

Want a sneak peek at your 2026-27 1st semester schedule before anyone else? Show up to summer school and earn early access!

At Willard Middle School, summer school is anything but ordinary. We’re bringing the fun with an experience full of action, mystery, and challenge from day one. Students can expect interactive challenges that spark curiosity and encourage problem-solving in exciting ways.

The fun continues with exciting field trips to a water slide park, fishing, swimming, walking field trips, and much more.

Students who attend at least 15 of the 20 days will receive their 2026-27 first semester schedule on the final day.

Grab your friends, put your problem-solving skills to the test, and get ready for a summer full of excitement and adventure. Don't miss out on the chance to have fun while preparing for the upcoming school year. See you there!

Enrollment

Enrollment will open Sunday, March 1, 2026 and will close Friday, April 24, 2026. To enroll a student in grades 9-12, call the High School Counseling Office at 417-742-3524. To enroll a student in grades K-8, fill out the enrollment form here. The form will open at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026!

Please ensure that immunization records for incoming kindergarten students are submitted to the school by Thursday, May 21st to secure enrollment.

• MS & HS: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

• K - 6: Monday - Friday 7:45 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.

Locations

• K - 6th Grade will be at Willard Orchard Hills Elementary + Willard North Elementary 

• 7th & 8th Grade will be at Willard Middle School

• 9th - 12th Grade will be at Willard High School

All Summer Discovery students K-12 will receive free lunch and breakfast every day.

Shuttle Bus for Middle and High School Students - Must complete the shuttle bus form in addition to registration form. They are two separate forms!

Middle School and High School students have the opportunity to ride a bus from Willard South Elementary or Willard Orchard Hills Elementary to the middle/high school and back. We hope this will make it easier for some students to be able to attend Summer Discovery. The shuttle schedule is as follows:

• Departure from Willard Orchard Hills Elementary: 6:45 a.m.
• Departure from Willard South Elementary: 7:00 a.m.
• Arrival back to Willard South: 2:20 p.m.
• Arrival back to Willard Orchard Hills Elementary: 2:30 p.m.

If you would like to sign your student up for this service, please complete this form. PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM FOR EACH STUDENT YOU HAVE ENROLLED. On the shuttle bus form, please indicate if your child will only ride the shuttle to/from the middle school and/or high school in the mornings, only in the afternoon, or both.
