Performance Responsibilities:
- Promotes a positive culture for the school site of responsibility. The principal sets the expectations for the students and all building staff under their charge.
- Assumes responsibility for the school and educational program.
- Serves as the instructional leader (e.g. new teacher orientation, instructional process, classroom management, curriculum, etc.) for the purpose of providing support and guidance as requested based on their knowledge and experience.
- Sets high expectations and standards for the academic and social development of all students and the performance of adults.
- Requires content and instruction that ensures student achievement of agreed upon academic standards. (Teachers are teaching the written curriculum).
- Ensures effective instructional and curricular programs are being designed and delivered to students.
- Uses multiple sources of data as tools to assess, identify, and apply instructional improvement.
- Actively engages the community to create shared responsibility for student and school success.
- Develops a school climate that creates an instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.
- Provides for effective selection, induction, and continual staff development of all personnel.
- Assumes leadership responsibilities for the development and improvement of staff.
- Provides for effective evaluation of all personnel.
- Provides leadership for positive educational change.
- Communicates and promotes standards of performance.
- Budgets time to achieve balance between administrative and supervisory duties.
- Utilizes effective practices to promote desirable student conduct.
- Demonstrates effective skills in problem analysis, decision-making, and judgment.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with students, staff, and community.
- Promotes and nurtures a positive interpersonal climate in the school building.
- Ensures appropriate building supervision, discipline, and supervision of activities.
- Participates in professional growth activities to increase personal knowledge, skills and abilities to ensure best practices are being implemented.
- Holds high expectations for self as evidenced by modeling positive work habits and behaviors.
- Attends monthly School Board meetings.
- Assumes responsibilities outside the school as related to school matters.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
