  • No Tax Increase Bond Issue April 2017 Bond Issue!

April 4th the Willard community will be asked to approve a $19.5 million dollar no tax increase bond issue.  The issue is the second phase of our 2016 bond issue to construct a new Intermediate School on the South side of the district. This bond will be a NO TAX RATE INCREASE BOND.  The district has refinanced all existing bonds to lower interest rates over the past few years.  This has saved the district millions in future payments. Along with the refinancing efforts, we have paid off substantial debt, which allows this bond to be achieved without increasing the Debt Service Levy.  The district currently has 19 acres under contract, which adjoins WOHE (Willard Orchard Hills Elementary).  This will result in a campus comprised of a K-4 elementary and a 5-6 Intermediate serving students in the southern portion of our district.
I am excited about the possibilities of this facility.  It will undoubtedly be a point of pride for our students and community members.  I will be sharing more information regarding this bond as we ramp up to the election on April 4th.  There are many informational meetings scheduled to hear more about the need for this building and greater detail about the bond.  You can find more information and public meeting dates here.
    Have a great weekend!

    Dr. Kent Medlin
    Superintendent
