  • Lee Marcum Drag Racing Is There Life Outside of School??
Willard kids are absolutely amazing!!!  Some school people think everything revolves around school!  Sometimes we forget that we have a district full of young people that are involved in a myriad of outside activities.  This week I am highlighting one such student.  Christopher Marcum is a senior at the High School and is highly successful in the area of drag racing. He is a humble young man and therefore, many staff are not even aware of his accomplishments.  He began racing as a Junior Dragster at age 7 and has raced every year since. He competes approximately 24-30 weekends a year from March thru October, so it is quite a commitment of time, energy and effort.
In those 11 years of racing, he has amassed an amazing record of success. The results below are season long championships.
    • 2014 - International Hot Rod Association #5 in the World
    • Division 2 Champion
    • 3 x IHRA Summit Super Series Champion
    • 2 x Mo-Kan Track Junior Mod Champion
    • Mo-Kan Track Junior Comp Champion
    • Central Drag Racing Association Junior Champion
    • Ozark Raceway Track Junior Champion
List of Honors or Special Events
    • Southwest Missouri Drag Racing Association Hall of Fame - Rising Star Inductee
    • Rookie of the Year
    • Race of Champions Win
If drag racing is ever added to our competitive activities, we would have a champion!!!  I am proud of Christopher and his commitment to excellence in racing.  I look forward to hearing his name in future years!
    Have a great weekend!
    Dr. Kent Medlin
