Parents: Have You Signed Up for Canvas?

Canvas was chosen as the WHS Learning Management System for its wide range of easy to use tools for teachers, students and parents.  Canvas allows our teachers and students to use our 1:1 technology more efficiently and more effectively. Canvas parent accounts are free and will allow you to quickly and easily engage in your child’s education. A parent observer account allows parents to:

    • Read announcements, view the calendar, and see the course syllabus.
    • Access a list of assignments with due dates.
    • See your child's assignments, but not his/her discussion posts
    • View your child’s scores on assignments in Canvas. Course grades will continue to be published in SIS.
    • Use the Inbox to contact the teacher.
    • Set up notifications to get emails or texts for announcements, assignments, etc.
    • View the instructional content in the course.

    Signing Up

You can sign up for a Canvas observer account by following the directions in this guide, Canvas Parent Accounts. You must have your student’s Novell username and password to sign up for an account

    More information

For additional details and guides on using Canvas, visit the Canvas Help for Parents section on the WHS website.

    Help Available at Open House

The high school instructional coaches, Amber Hainline and Janetta Garton, will be available to answer your questions and/or assist you with signing up for a parent observer account in room 105 during Open House, August 18 from 6-8 pm. We do not have access to student’s Novell passwords; please bring this information with you to the Open House.

WHS is excited to partner with you this school year in helping students to achieve their best.
